Intimate Acadia

Fallen Leaves at the edge of the Great Meadow

Fallen Leaves at the edge of the Great Meadow

The majority of photos you see from Acadia are of grand, majestic cliffs or beautiful ponds with mirror reflections of the mountains behind them, etc. I do that type of photography too, but more often, I'm looking for the intimate details that make up Autumn in Acadia.

I looked for a long time to find this image. I wanted a smattering of colorful leaves spread over a mat of wispy grass– it's not as easy to find as you'd think. I then waited for some dappled light to come through the trees and light up the leaves. The final effect, as a large 36-inch print, is stunning.

I've posted a few more of my intimate landscapes below. Enjoy.
