Sundown from Bubble Mountain

Last October, I climbed South Bubble Mountain overlooking Jordan Pond, to photograph the sunrise to the south. This summer, I returned to photograph the sun going down from the same vantage point. Jordan Pond and Bubble Mountain are very popular spots,particularly in summer. But by going up the mountain at 7:30, I had the view, one of Acadia's finest, all to myself. If you've never climbed Bubble Mountain, it's a relatively easy hike, about 20-30 minutes from the small parking lot along Park Loop Road. Pass the Balance Rock on your left, and head to the front (south) of the mountain for this scenic viewpoint. Then cross your fingers and hope for a good sunset/ sunrise. Either way, enjoy the view.
