Although it's not part of Acadia National Park, "Little" Long Pond borders the park and was formerly the site of the Rockefeller family mansion, The Eyrie, built in 1914 but torn down in 1962. The land was donated to the Land & Garden Preserve by David Rockefeller on his 100th birthday in 2015. The family's boathouse on the pond has been preserved. This image is also featured in Under October Skies (plate 59).

After a mixed bag of results photographing the sunrise from Cadillac Mountain, I took my workshop group by Bubble Pond to see what the conditions were like. In all my years of photographing there, I’d never seen the surface of the pond so still and beautiful. And with the combination of some bright autumn foliage on the far shore, we were able to create some sublime images.
